The Black Legacy Project
Since 2005, Music in Common performances have been creating impactful communities of connection between artist and audience and audience with each other. From house concerts to colleges, performing arts centers, and large festival stages, Music in Common has performed for thousands of people in more than 400 communities worldwide. A nonprofit with a mission to strengthen, empower, and connect communities through the universal language of music, Music in Common curates experiences for people to find common ground through music and conversation. In 2022, Music in Common was honored as CNN Champions for Change for their work.
On October 10, 2025 – exactly 20 years to the day of their founding – Music in Common will bring their Black Legacy Project to the Bendix Theatre in South Bend for an evening of meaningful engagement that includes a screening of the Black Legacy Project documentary short film, musical performances from the project and Music in Common repertoire of songs from around the world, and conversation.
