Fridays by the Fountain – Top Secret
The Morris Performing Arts Center presents Fridays by the Fountain on the Jon R. Hunt Plaza, in front of the Morris Theater, each summer between the months of June and August. The concert series runs every Friday and features live entertainment from local Blues, Jazz, Rock, Folk, and Country bands. The concerts are free and open to the public and run from 11:45 AM – 1:15 PM. Food vendors are available and they offer a variety of lunchtime favorites including pizza, sandwiches, salads and pasta, or you may choose to bring your own. Tables are set in and around the plaza or bring your own blanket and chair!
Fast forward to October of 2007. ETA had a gig booked at Pete’s Simonton Lake Tavern in Elkhart. However, since they were no longer around, Joe needed to find some musicians to play the gig. He called up Kate, Mike, and guitarists Dave Denlinger and David Taylor, and asked them if they would like to play the show together. This lineup played the show at Pete’s with no rehearsal, and had a wonderful time. They had no name for themselves, so the owner put the name Top Secret on his sign, and the name stuck. The gig at Pete’s went so well that Joe just started booking more shows…and the rest is history.
For the majority of its history, Top Secret’s core lineup has been Joe, Mike, and Dave (Taylor). In 2014, the band became a 4-piece when Kris Hammerstein joined the band.
When you come see Top Secret play, be ready to have a great time!!
