The Morris Performing Arts Center presents Fridays by the Fountain on the Jon R. Hunt Plaza, in front of the Morris Theater, each summer between the months of June and August. The concert series traditionally runs every other Friday and features live entertainment from local Blues, Jazz, Rock, Folk, and Country bands. The concerts are free and open to the public and run from 11:45 AM – 1:15 PM. Food vendors are available and they offer a variety of lunchtime favorites including pizza, sandwiches, salads and pasta, or you may choose to bring your own. Tables are set in and around the plaza or bring your own blanket and chair!
Drew Hale is an award winning singer/songwriter (2015 Country Showdown National Champion) from Traverse City, Michigan. Transplanted from El Paso, TX in 2008, Drew and his wife Emily found a community and a home in the people and culture of Northern Michigan.

Drew has since made a name for himself playing events like Common Ground Music Festival (Lansing, MI), and Big Ticket Festival (Gaylord, MI), as well as local Michigan breweries, wineries, and bars. Alongside accolades from local radio and tv personalities, Drew has had the opportunity to play alongside national recording artists including Tim McGraw, Dierks Bentley, Canaan Smith, Cassadee Pope, Frankie Ballard, Scotty McCreery, RaeLynn, and Adam Sanders.
